Democrat Alicia Hyndman cruised to victory Tuesday night in the special election for the 29th State Assembly District.
“It hasn’t been an easy course, but this community is worth it,” Hyndman said at her election night headquarters, joined by most of the region’s political leaders.
Unofficial results available on the website of the state Board of Elections gave Hyndman just under 90 percent of the vote.
Scherie Murray, the first Republican candidate in three decades to run for the office, received 6.6 percent of the vote.
